MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications:

· National Senior Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.

· Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or similar qualification.

· Honours Degree in Information Technology or similar qualification.

· Certificates in CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+ etc. (advantageous).

· IT Certification preferable.

· Valid drivers license.

Experience:

· Minimum 8 years experience as an IT Manager in the Mining Industry.

· Experience in IT Equipment Maintenance.

· Experience in CCTV, turnstiles, access control, etc.

· Experience in Office Network, PC, Laptop, etc.

· Experience working on a Greenfields / Start-up mine.

· Experience with IT systems on a 5G mine (highly advantageous).

Knowledge and Skills:

· English: fully proficient.

· Verbally proficient in local languages of the province with Fanakalo (advantageous).

· Advanced computer literacy.

· Extensive knowledge working with Microsoft Office 2016, 2019 or Office 365 and all MS Office programs.

· Strong managerial skills.

· Diverse knowledge of computer and server hardware.

· Expertise in IT tools and concepts such as operating systems and internet protocol suites.

· Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations.

· Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills (critical).

· 5G Mining.

· In-depth understanding of diverse computer systems, networks and software, including administrative and end user knowledge.

· Excellent knowledge of security and data privacy principles.

· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical personnel.

· Programming languages and operating systems.

· Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to quickly analyse complex situations to address operational challenges and resolve issues.

· Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to create a positive and productive work environment and effectively manage a team.

· Exceptional communication and presentation skills for effectively convey technical information to various audiences and diverse stakeholders.

· Capable of assisting / guiding employees who do not have extensive knowledge and experience in computer systems.

· Adaptable to changing circumstances and willing to take responsibility and initiative.

· Able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and effectively collaborate and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Additional Requirements:

· Medically fit to work in an underground mine.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES (KPA):

· Design and manage the procedures for the use of IT resources. Ensure IT resources / assets are tracked and monitored.

· Make strategic IT decisions that benefits the performance and work output of the company and end-users.

· Analyse departmental needs, identify vulnerabilities and boost productivity, efficiency and accuracy to inform business decisions.

· Ensure technical support to all employees is applied in a timely manner. Ensure troubleshooting and repairs are executed by team effectively. Establish a structured tracking system to monitor and track outstanding support issues with limitations set to ensure no issues are left unattended for an extended period.

· Manage the offering, planning and execution of training on the use of systems and networks. Ensure user manuals are freely accessible to employees and subsequent support readily available.

· Manage the installation and configuration of hardware equipment and software programs. Ensure the hardware and software are compatible to current systems. Install and maintain computer systems and networks ensuring optimal functionality.

· Oversee, track and measure system and network performance and provide regular reports to various stakeholders and issues, limitations and strategic solutions.

· Manage the development, design and implementation of IT policies, standards, and procedures. Ensure IT policies are up to date, particularly with the continued development of technology.

· Design, develop, plan, implement and install 5G IT requirements in conjunction with the technical and operations department to ensure a fully functioning 5G mine.

· Evaluate processes and methods used in ICT systems.

· Manage and maintain the company's technological equipment, such as computers and tele- communication devices. Ensure devices can maintain the connection and speed to operate optimally, particularly with the companys growth.

· Ensure that company devices interconnect with file servers and email servers systems seamlessly. Maintain the email system and ensure the IT team keeps the email address book remains up to date.

· Install, upgrade, and manage software and hardware on company devices. Ensure IT team manages employees access to their emails on their cell phones where applicable. Ensure that the setup of new employee equipment and emails is conducted by the team, prior to start dates, and in accordance with the established needs for that role.

· Manage all software licensing. Create instructions for program installation sequences.

· Keep an inventory of all company electronic assets in collation with the Finance Department. Continuously ensure that there are enough unused resources on site in stock for new employees. Prepare costbenefit analyses when upgrades are necessary and monitor vendors to ensure that theyre offering the best-possible service and value for business needs.

· Develop and execute disaster planning and maintain data backups. Ensure backups and restoration of lost data is conducted by the IT team. Ensure backups are secure and take place regularly.

· Implement and manage the access control and clock in system. Work with HR to ensure system is fully functional as to company requirements and communicates with the payroll system effectively.

· Maintain the company website and implement any changes. Ensure PR and Legal reviews any content before posting on the website.

· Maintain and oversee the Company Information and Security Management sites and software, e.g., Sharepoint, firewalls etc.

· Manage various projects as approved by management.

· Ensure effective management of the onsite CCTV, turnstiles, access control and subsequent software setup, installation, maintenance, and monitoring.

· Manage the security and privacy of networks and computer systems in accordance with the company policies and per the POPI act.

· Manage the organisation and scheduling of upgrades and maintenance ensuring minimal interruption to users access and performance.

· Analyse processes, technologies, and vendors continually to find areas for improvement.

· Manage the IT budget. Ensure all payments and invoices are completed on time and within budget restraints.

· Perform routine system audits. Run routine system operation reports and share them with management.

· Organise and establish deadlines for major IT projects such as installations, updates, migrations, upgrades, outages, and implementation.

· Stay up to date with new technology and report this information to the executive team each quarter.

· Work closely with other department managers to assess the growth needs and maintenance of the companys systems.

· Develop & Lead the Team in all Aspects of People Management:

o Ensure skills sets & competencies to perform tasks in respect of equity practices & on the job training.

o Monitor skills requirements and capabilities of direct and indirect subordinates, recommend training, development, recruitment, or redeployment as required.

o Conduct career discussions and implement actions with all identified talent.

o Manage and supervise the team with respect and integrity and ensure competency.

o Ensure discipline is maintained (absenteeism, lateness, overtime, misconduct, etc.).

o Optimize use of available resources within the team through prudent allocation and management of shared resources

o Develop teamwork by providing firm, fair and focused leadership, management, and supervision.

o Give guidance to the team so that they understand their statutory and business functions & responsibilities.

o Communicate planned business targets to the team and collect the teams input to improve the business.

o Manage performance against set targets and competencies, coach, and counsel people to ensure improved performance levels.

o Ensure IDPs are linked to performance results and implemented as per plan.

o Hold people to account to ensure discipline of all COPs, standards and legalities and take corrective action as required.

· People:

o Enforce the Companys Code of Conduct.

o Advise management in training required by employees.

o Create high performing team and conductive employee relations climate.

o Ensure that safety regulations are adhered to by employees working with and under their direct supervision.

o Do risk assessments and communicate with employees thereafter.

· Manage labour stability:

o Assist in achieving HDSA targets for the department.

o Manage and interact well with employer, employees & stakeholders.

o Positive, approachable and enforce discipline.

o Ensure that health and safety standards are always adhered to.

· Manage performance against set targets and competencies:

o Monitor, manage and participate in routine workplace safety activities.

o Manage complexity at varying levels and adapt quickly to changes in job priorities.

o Create employee schedules, assigning schedules and responsibilities to employees, checking to see if these responsibilities and assignments are completed effectively.

o Identify deviations or non-conformances, plan and implementing corrective actions to ensure attainment of the department plan.

o Inspect equipment and instruments to detect defects / malfunctioning and address accordingly.

· Work overtime / standby / shifts as needed.

· Assign relevant personnel to work standby, overtime and shifts.

· Ensure overtime and shift compliance in line with the BCEA.

· Work within budget and avoid material wasting. Control the utilisation of allocated resources (i.e.: people, machines, and equipment).

· Strategic Planning:

o Assist with the compiling of the Strategic Plan.

· Tactical Planning:

o Ensure that the necessary safety precautions are taken before any task is performed.

o Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy working environment in the workplace.

· Take cognisance of and adhere to company policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.

· Manage and report on non-compliance issues to manager.

· Be able to do lock out procedure on equipment where necessary.

· Establish and maintain good working relationships and an effective / sound communication system with the various teams and departments.

· Strong commitment to service and quality standards as well as stakeholder satisfaction.

· Any other responsibility that can be reasonably expected in this role / function.
