As an Excavator Operator, you will play a critical role in operating heavy machinery to efficiently move materials in a recycling facility. You will work closely with the team to ensure the safe and effective handling of scrap metal and other materials while maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate excavators and other heavy machinery to load and unload scrap metal and materials.
  • Ensure efficient material processing, including sorting, stacking, and moving metal materials for further processing or shipment.
  • Perform daily inspections of equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
  • Maintain safety protocols and follow all site-specific safety regulations.
  • Work with team members to ensure smooth operations within the recycling yard.
  • Monitor the quality of materials and ensure they are correctly handled and sorted.
  • Assist with general maintenance tasks when required.
  • Troubleshoot and report any equipment issues promptly.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience operating an excavator or similar heavy machinery.
  • Experience in the metal recycling or construction industry is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and procedures for heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness and ability to handle manual labor as required.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Valid operator certification is preferred (depending on location).
