CRITICAL OUTPUTS

  • Conduct online patient assessments, including gathering medical histories and other relevant information.
  • Work under the supervision of medical doctors to evaluate and diagnose patients online.
  • Consult with patients online to prescribe treatments, medications, referral documentation and education as required and within scope of practice.
  • Provide patient education on health conditions, treatment options, self-care practices, medication use, lifestyle changes, and preventive healthcare measures.
  • Accurately document online patient interactions in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and confidentiality regulations.
  • Maintain professionalism, courtesy and confidentiality when interacting with patients and fellow healthcare professionals.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree in Clinical Medicine (BCMP) or equivalent recognised by the HPCSA.
  • Active HPCSA registration as a Clinical Associate.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience in directly caring for patients.
  • Experience in the primary care setting and/or delivery of telehealth services will be an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, diagnosis and management of common primary care conditions and telehealth best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an integrated health care team.
  • Proficiency in using telehealth platforms and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Dedication to patient-centered care and adherence to ethical and professional standards.
  • Assertiveness, diplomacy, and integrity.
  • Certain minimum device and connectivity requirements apply.
