An opportunity for an experienced OPTOMETRIST is required for permanent employment based in Ermelo.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Patient care

• Attend to all clients coming into the practice in a professional manner and to manage them responsibly.

Sales

• Attend to all clients who come in and assist them in selecting frames, lenses and care products to increase the turnover of the company.

Product Knowledge

• To have a sound knowledge of the products that are available to offer to patients and be able to communicate the features and benefits of these products to the patients in a manner that will improve sales.
• To have a sound knowledge of the medical aid requirements for processing and payment of claims and be able to see a medical aid claim through from the beginning to the end of the process.

Consultation

• Attend to all booked appointments and any walk-in patients in a timeous and professional manner. The sale of frames or contact lenses is an integral part of your responsibility.

Debt Management

• To oversee that patient debt is collected in a responsible manner.

Laboratory

• To oversee that orders are processed and received from the laboratory in a timeous and satisfactory manner. To ensure that all jobs received are checked for quality control purposes before being dispensed and that the lab status report is checked daily and that all delays are followed up.
• To ensure that lab pricing is done correctly and that the practice is obtaining the best possible value from the laboratory.

Stock

• To oversee that stock on shelf is being topped up regularly and that frame displays are kept in a neat and orderly manner.

Patient recall

• To ensure patients are recalled to the practice within the prescribed time frame, based on the industry norm for the specific procedure/consultation.

Marketing

• To work with the relevant people to ensure that the practice brand is built through various marketing platforms.

Specialist Contact Lenses

• To obtain the necessary skills to equip yourself to fit and manage patients who need specialized contact lens fittings which include RGP, scleral and hybrid lens fittings.

Practice building

• To present proposals to management on how the practice may be improved both internally and externally through market research.

Staff management

• To ensure that the staff are able to and do their work in an efficient and committed manner, that the customer service provided by the store is of the highest standard, that they are continuously trained and upskilled and that the human resources are utilized to a maximum capa for Ermelo.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Bachelor of Optometry Degree
• HPCSA Registered
• Updated CPD Points
• Excellent Communication Skills, Verbal and Writing
• Relationship Building Abilities
• Sales Skills will be an advantage
• Valid Drivers License with own transport
• Fluent in Afrikaans & English (with Zulu adv)
• Ermelo residency required
