Minimum requirements:
  • Matric
  • A degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is advantageous
  • Proven experience as a Legal Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting/bookkeeping role, ideally in a law firm
  • Knowledge of legal accounting principles, including trust accounting and client funds management
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for client accounts, including trust and general ledgers
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment and invoicing
  • Reconcile bank and trust accounts regularly to ensure accuracy
  • Assist in preparing financial reports and statements for internal and external audits
  • Ensure compliance with legal accounting regulations, including the handling of client funds
  • Collaborate with attorneys and other staff to track expenses and assist with budgeting
  • Perform other bookkeeping duties as required in a legal environment
