Quantity Surveyor

The Quantity Surveyor protects the company''s reputational, contractual and commercial interests whilst lowering project cost bases and increasing the revenue stream. The incumbent acts in liaison with various project stakeholders to safeguard the company''s interests, advises on cost and contractual arrangements and prepares contract documents. The QS ensures statutory compliance and that company procedures and systems are being adhered to.
1. Manage the Commercial Profitability of projects and alignment to the Financial Life Cycle of the business
Effective trade measurement calculating the correct lengths, areas and volumes; using the applied system of measurement, correct interpretation of drawings and detection of variations
Effectively execute the project certification life cycle and final account
Execute and monitor all cost control principles such as site storage control, updated asset registers, plant and equipment reconciliations and accurate cost codes
Execute the relevant project contractual claims and submit with sufficient evidence
Execute accurate cost reports to report on the alignment between budgets and allowable
Align all activities to the business, Management System and policies and procedures
2. Optimise contract administration and business risk
Understand, apply and manage common and contract law principles and all duties incorporated thereby.
Ensure compliance with Construction, HSE, Labour and Environmental Legislations
Seamless collaboration with production team to identify profitable synergies and management
of the financial integrity of the projects
Implement and manage a document and project management control system
3. Customer / Stakeholder Management
Ensure a clear understanding of the customer requirements and provide astute alternatives as an expert advisor where necessary
Provide a best practice service and built sustainable relationships with key parties
Manage nominated, domestic and labour only sub-contract agreements and negotiate the best sub-contractors for the work
Understands the duties and responsibilities of Agents and Consultants
4. Teamwork:

Qualifications and experience:
Academic Qualification - Tertiary Degree / Diploma
ASAQS / MBA
Internal Support departments
5 years'' Technical Experience
Role demands: Travel to and from site / heavy workload and long hours
Salary - Market related
