About the Role
Our client is looking for a creative and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to join their growing team in Bloemfontein . This role is pivotal in developing innovative mechanical solutions for a range of products and systems. You will be responsible for the entire design lifecycle, from initial concept generation and detailed design to prototyping and testing. Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD software.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) .
- Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are producible and cost-effective.
- Conduct design reviews and participate in prototyping and testing phases.
- Troubleshoot design issues and implement design modifications as required.
- Research and evaluate new materials and manufacturing technologies for design applications.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
- 2-5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, casting, and plastic injection molding.
- Good knowledge of material properties and selection criteria.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and excellent communication skills.
