Non- negotiable qualifications and experience required:
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering (Marine, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering preferred).
  • 5-10 years of experience in project engineering or permitting within the shipbuilding or marine industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international maritime regulations, environmental standards, and permitting processes.
  • Location Requirement: Candidates should either be South African residents currently living in the Netherlands or South Africans willing to relocate to the Netherlands.
  • Fluency in Afrikaans (both written and spoken).

Beneficial requirements:
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and timelines efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills for interfacing with regulatory bodies, project teams, and stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities:
  • Oversee and manage all permitting activities required for new ship construction and retrofitting projects.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies to ensure project compliance with environmental, safety, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Develop and implement permitting strategies that align with project schedules and avoid delays in construction.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to regulatory compliance and provide solutions to minimize permitting risks.
  • Collaborate with design and project management teams to ensure that engineering plans meet regulatory requirements and adhere to quality standards.
