Division:

As one of the largest entities in the Sanlam Group, Sanlam Corporate (SC) specializes in offering risk, investment, and administration services to businesses and retirement funds. Tailoring solutions to meet the specific needs of a diverse clientele, SC helps companies create and deliver personalized employee benefits packages, handling premium collection and member communication.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform daily Group Risk pricing tasks
  • Monitor the ongoing profitability of the current client portfolio
  • Manage vulnerable schemes
  • Price and design benefits for large and/or complex Group Risk schemes
  • Facilitate new business acquisition and sustainable growth
  • Establish terms for new business
  • Review terms for existing business

Responsibilities (ongoing):

  • Develop and maintain client relationships through excellent service and communication
  • Collaborate with the quotes, revisions, sales, member management, claims, and underwriting teams
  • Engage in negotiations with clients, brokers, reinsurers, and internal partners
  • Provide training on Group Risk products and processes to various stakeholders
  • Assist in resolving queries and complaints
  • Offer technical support to clients and cross-functional teams
  • Lead business transformation projects
  • Analyze data related to emerging claims experience
  • Contribute to product design and risk management
  • Guide junior staff members

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Qualified or nearly-Qualified actuary (up to 3 exams pending)
  • Life insurance background is essential
  • Preferably, experience in Group Risk, particularly in pricing or product development
  • Strong technical skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities
  • Thorough understanding of group insurance pricing and market dynamics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Solid analytical and conceptual thinking
  • Capacity to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines
