Lecturer to join our small and growing team to ensure the success of our first cohorts of student-teachers.

What does the role entail?


As a Lecturer, you will be working under Instill's Academic Dean in Johannesburg to design and deliver content on the Foundation Phase teacher training programme.

The Lecturer's role is anchored in sound theoretical and practical knowledge of preparing teacher trainees to lead their own classrooms.


Specifically, you will:

  • Design content for asynchronous online learning
  • Design and revise contextually relevant and engaging teaching and learning materials based on researchbased best practices to improve student outcomes
  • Facilitate, orchestrate and supervise classes, student practice, and smallgroup work
  • Grade assessments, synthesise performance data, track cohort progress, and identify gaps in student understanding
  • Serve as an advisor to and advocate for teacher trainees
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned
  • Support in the development and maintenance of a strong, inviting and engaging working culture at Instill Education

Selection Criteria:

  • A Masters in Education qualification (PhD will be an added advantage) with a phase related specialisation (e.g. Masters in Mathematics Education in Intermediate Phase).
  • Experience in a Junior Faculty/ Lecturer role
  • You have the ability to cofacilitate teachertrainee sessions and coach teacher trainees
  • You are highly adaptable, with strong critical thinking, planning and execution skills
  • You are an outstanding written and oral communicator
  • Commitment to excellence in the provision of service to students
