Applications are invited for the above-indicated vacancy within Newzroom Afrika. The incumbent will report to the PCR manager.
Job purpose
The v ision mixer work on multi-camera TV programmes. They select what the viewers see on their televisions at home.

Sitting next to the studio director in the production gallery, in front of an array of monitors, they cut between the different pictures available and create effects in real-time.

The vision mixer is responsible for mixing between camera's
Also responsible for routing live and OB sources, cropping of pictures, creating multi windows, resizing of windows according to picture
Ensures that the desk is operational, tests all sources/elements on the desk to make sure that they are all working
Also creates effects (superimpose, crossfades)
Adjusts chroma keys for virtual sets
Mixes in the GFX from the Maestro system
Mixes in visuals from the Command system
Responsible for being vigilant in removing incorrect content.

REQUIREMENTS:

Skills and Competencies:

Matric plus a relevant certificate/diploma/degree in a field related to television production.
A minimum of two years of experience in live news and current affairs studio vision mixing role.
Practical experience with different vision mixing consoles.
Extensive understanding and knowledge of setting up DVE's and ME's
A good eye and creative spirit.
Ability to follow instructions and remain professional under pressure.
Sound troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
Ability to work under pressure and stay calm when things go wrong.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Professional self-starter with a growth mindset.
Must have excellent organizational and communication skills.

Must be an effective learner, with a curiosity and desire to learn and understand the entire scope of the in the studio and control room.

Possess strong fundamental understanding of video and audio production equipment and capabilities.
Excellent command and understanding of English language.
Good multi-tasking skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Willingness to work varied shifts.
