The purpose of the position of Credit Clerk is to manage the client accounts of the Supercare Services Group business for a portfolio / sector or geographic region.

Responsible for service delivery across all internal and external clients through the management of Debt Collection and account maintenance of current contracts, and cancelled contracts where debt is owing.


Duties include:

  • Ensure an account is correct before sending statements out internally to managers or externally to clients. Send copies of invoices, credits, statements to clients, or where required within the business.
  • Reconciliations of individual debtor accounts.
  • Sorting out of accounts in arrears through telephonic contact and reminder letters with the customer to determine reason for nonpayment, or payment date.
  • Ensure you are always courteous and professional with clients.
  • Ensure if clients are being offensive that you do not react but report it to your line manager for further action.
  • Identify potential credit notes/Letters to clients that will be required and flag these with the Billing & AR Manager.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for the resolution of client queries in a timely manner. Engage with the Client, Management Accountant, Regional Managers and General Managers as required and do not leave the account unattended follow through with the query continuously until 100% resolved and payment is made. Where needed, go to site to resolve the disputed account with the Client.
  • Attend meetings with the General Manager and Management accountant on the state of the accounts.
  • Ensure the Age Analysis is up to date with commentary on each client in the prescribed format.
  • Accurate processing of all cash received in the bank account on daily basis
  • Ensure effort is made to keep bank updated daily.
  • Ensuring no funds are allocated without remittance advices.
  • Tracing inaccurate allocations and requesting reversal from the Management accountant. Prepare Journals for Correct Allocation of Monies presented to the Management accountant for authorization.
  • Partner with divisions to ensure debt exposure is kept to a minimum within the region.
  • Manage integrated relationships between Operations and Sales to drive ultimate productivity and partnerships.
  • Proactively engage with Clients to build longterm, profitable relationships within the region.

Minimum requirements:

  • Matriculation Certificate
  • Certification in Debt Management and Collections
  • 35 years' collections experience in the services industry, inclusive of managing a debt book exceeding 500 customers and 3000 billing events.
