Summary of this Site Manager role:

We are currently recruiting for a Site Manager to work within the agreed framework of our clients Policies & Procedures and to assist Construction Supervisors and Artisans with upfront planning before start-up of Projects, planning and monitoring on a daily basis as per project requirements and according to key objectives and timelines of specific projects or project plan and to ensure that the project is delivered within the scope on time and within budget.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

_Planning and Managing Project Process_

  • Assist with ensuring smooth day to day running of projects.
  • Carry out the instructions of Project Manager with respect, reliability and honesty.
  • Assist with scoping of Projects in order for the Project Manager to provide quotations to Clients.
  • Obtain and interpret drawings from Clients and Project Managers.
  • Assist with completion of material requisitions before onsite work commences, in order for the Project and Site Manager to compile work schedule and project programme to determine start and end dates.
  • Communicate start and end dates to the Client as per the technical procedure.
  • Understand the specifications of projects.
  • Assist the Project Manager with compiling weekly staff utilisation for their projects
  • Attend meetings with subcontractors.
  • Compile weekly progress reports for Project Managers.
  • Monitor schedules and forecast of labour, materials, equipment and subcontractors
  • Arrange suitable accommodation when employees are working out of Town

_ Monitoring of Project Finances_

  • Assist with controlling cost of labour, materials and equipment
  • Ensures that wastage is kept to a minimum and rework to be minimised or avoided.

_ Performing an administrative function_

  • Accurate record keeping of projects documentation.
  • Adheres to company policies
  • Monitors and follow up on requisitions until items are delivered
  • Create Project files and filing thereof, by managing project documentation in accordance with procedures which will include all communication, scoping of projects, delays, quotations, invoices, VOs, interim valuations, final accounts, final claims, payment certificates, dissatisfaction of client, correspondence with all roleplayers, clients, subcontractors, details of drawings and filing thereof
  • Ensure that the site instruction book is maintained
  • Administers day works, site instructions and variation orders
  • Maintains formal correspondence with clients and subcontractors, ie. Emails.
  • Maintains a record of losses relating to theft and damages to plant and equipment on allocated projects.

_Performing Quality Control onsite_

  • Ensures that tasks are completed correctly and to specifications on the first attempt
  • Installs and monitors performance of installed electrical equipment for hazards, adjustments, or replacement.
  • Inspects all aspects of current work, tools and equipment for quality defects
  • Enforces the company quality policy by conducting audits to ensure that the project is executed to the highest quality standards.

_Managing Health & Safety on Site_

  • Assist with ensuring that good housekeeping on sites is being
  • Ensures that personal protective equipment is utilised and utilised correctly at all times
  • Conduct toolbox talks and communicate risk assessments and method statements to employees
  • Ensures compliance with safe working practices at all times in order to not to endanger the client, subcontractors, public, staff and visitors.
  • Ensures safety documents are kept uptodate in project files
  • Ensure all employees complies with company health & safety policies and procedures to ensure zero harm

_Sub-Contractor Management_

  • Prompt HSE to obtaining subcontractors documentation before commencement on Projects. ie. Letter of good standing, tax clearance, registration documents and statutory requirements.
  • Compile subcontractor documentation for payment.
  • Ensures that subcontractors work to specification and good practice
  • Performs quality checks on subcontractors

REQUIREMENTS

  • National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Trade Tested
  • Matric Certificate
  • Minimum 5 Years supervisory experience
  • Registered Master Installation Electrician
    (Nonnegotiable):
  • MV (11kV-33kV) experience in switching, line construction, jointing, fault location and pressure testing (Advantageous)
  • Solar PV experience in construction, design, commissioning and maintenance up to 1MWp (Preferable)
  • Experience in Electrical Industry in terms of Motor Control Centers, Instrumentation and VFDs (Preferable)
  • Willingness to travel within South Africa and Africa on occasionally.
  • Valid Code B, EB or higher and able to drive.
