This well-established hotel is in search of a
Horticulturist who is an inspiring, empowering and results-orientated leader with a passion for service excellence whilst maintaining standards and meeting or exceeding financial goals.


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining and developing a 3.5hectare garden which includes swimming pools with chlorination systems, internal landscaping, irrigation, and an active vineyard.
  • Technical experience with maintenance and repairs, procurement of pumps, etc.
  • Oversee the management and monitoring of water treatment plants and the waste management facility.
  • Conducting scheduled groups on guided tours of the garden.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Horticulture or Landscaping Technology or sound experience in garden estate maintenance.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience managing a team of a minimum of 8 gardeners.
  • A sound knowledge of indigenous plants is a requirement.
  • PC literacy (MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, Teams etc.)
  • Solid administration and recordkeeping skills
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of project management & budgeting.
  • Working knowledge of IR legislation
  • Excellent attendance and performance track record
  • Communication in IsiXhosa would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of sustainable methods in the garden maintenance of the site
  • Prepared to use own transport.
  • Available to work weekends.
  • Plan and attend community sustainability events.
