Purpose of the position:


To efficiently and, effectively remove the damaged elements from all codes of pallets after inspecting, by using a variety of equipment and tools.

Keeping within the required performance, quality, and safety standards.

Own transport and Valid Driver's License advantageous

Qualifications and experience:

The successful applicant must have the following qualification and experience:

  • Grade
  • One Year of general working experience.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

The successful applicant will be responsible for, among others, the following functions:

OPERATIONS

  • Lifts the inspected pallet from stacks supplied.
  • Places the pallet on the workbench
  • Inspects the pallet for damaged elements.
  • Carefully remove all the damaged elements from the pallet using a bolster, hammer, and conger saw according to the required standards.
  • Place removed elements in a waste bin or waste conveyor.
  • Selects the correct replacement elements from the timber trolley.
  • Places new elements in position to replace damaged elements previously stripped.
  • Selects the correct nail type and length to be used.
  • Uses a pneumatic nail gun to nail replaced element in place.
  • Ensures nailing pattern is to an agreed standard.
  • Stacks repaired pallets on outfeed conveyors for removal.
  • Reports any defective equipment to the supervisor.
  • Adheres to agreed performance and quality standards and agreed work methods.
  • Cleans his area of use.
  • Adheres to the required safety procedures and uses the applicable occupational safety and health equipment.
  • Carries out any other allocated duty as directed by his Foreman.

Working Conditions:

  • Warehouse setting.
  • The job entails reporting directly to the Foreman


Although the official working hours for the Organization are from 07:00 to 19:00, these may vary per role and per site.

However, all employees are required to work 44 hours per week (12 Hours Shifts) excluding lunch breaks. As stated, high levels of flexibility will be required in this regard in view of the nature of the business
