Purpose of Role:

The primary objective of this role is to produce technical drawings aligned with customer and contract specifications.

Working closely with project technicians and engineers, the incumbent will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient document distribution and maintaining an organized archiving system.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform design calculations and selections for body and trailer components.
  • Create detailed component designs, including material properties, clearances, and tolerances.
  • Generate customerrelated drawings such as general arrangements, structural layouts, and piping diagrams.
  • Redraw and create 3D models and assemblies based on 2D drawings.
  • Update drawings as per revised specifications or changing engineering requirements.
  • Maintain drawing office systems and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Sales, Projects, and Workshops.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Assist colleagues with daily tasks as required.
  • Fulfill other reasonable duties delegated from time to time.

Education:

  • National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Draughtsman Diploma/Certificate.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in body and trailer manufacturing.
  • Understanding of machining techniques and geometric tolerancing.
  • Exposure to mechanical, structural, and fabrication environments.

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective filing and archiving systems.
  • General understanding of engineering specifications and codes.
  • Familiarity with draughting principles.
  • Strong computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in CAD, AutoCAD, Inventor 3D, or similar software packages.
