OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

The Category Manager will report to the Senior Category Manager and work in tandem with the Marketing and Sales Teams to provide in-depth database market analysis at all levels of marketing, to form the basis of the marketing strategy by category, product and brand.

The incumbent will be responsible for providing insights regarding the market, trends, current campaigns, products, pricing campaigns, briefs to sourcing and co-ordination with procurement and ensuring there is a holistic marketing focus across all territories for the relevant categories of small appliances.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategy planning and execution for the relevant categories
  • Product and margin management, including pricing and positioning across multiple brands and categories
  • Budget formulation, management, and tracking
  • Be proactive in identifying and developing and winning profitable new incremental business opportunities utilizing market research to understand consumer needs
  • Management of new product procedures (Launching of new products, distribution, and marketing support)
  • Monitoring of competitor activity including, product, pricing, distribution, and promotions and producing regular reports on strategies for staying at the forefront of competitor activity
  • Provide the Senior Category Manager with information and proposals concerning the ranging, promotion, distribution, design, and pricing of company products
  • Provide support to, and coordinate with the sourcing team with regards to products and innovation
  • Seek and provide information to help the company determine their position in the marketplace
  • Develop and implement procedures as a result of conducting a market gap analysis
  • Provide channel and retailer specific strategies for respective categories
  • Examine marketing opportunities and potential ROIs thereof, and develop execution strategies
  • Working with the Sales Team to drive listings and accurate forecasts for products
  • Attend customer meetings to showcase products and strategies in conjunction with Sales Team
  • Analyze forecasts and make suggestions and recommendations on what is most accurate in regard to the analysis
  • Provide technical and product knowledge support if required
  • Assisting in executing the business' brand strategies within the relevant categories
  • Identify new market opportunities to expand category presence and work with relevant retailers to ensure existing channels to market remain active and successful
  • Complete concepttesting for new products and determine brand perceptions and reputation
  • Management of relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers
  • Budget formulation, management, and tracking
  • Tracking of per account adhoc spend
  • Product training
  • Coordination of technical facilitation and training
  • Organizing and managing trade demonstrations
  • Assist with the development, implementation and ongoing management of trade marketing material and images e.g.

Salary:
R27, R33,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:
