Job Summary

The purpose:

of the role is to provide and interpret financial information to all stakeholders of the business for informed decision making.

To support in coordination of full planning process and ARO RRB story and plans.

Information gathering for market analytics and insights around market share, competitor analysis, specific financial impacts that pertain to market changes.

Tracking of initiatives to plan.


The Senior Finance Business Partner equips finance and business leadership with sound financial information to support decision making at all levels.

Enables achieving the operational objectives of the business by building an agile finance enablement to transform, to bring stewardship, financial integrity & insights to the current state of the business & its future possibilities to deliver on the new operating model and to achieve the business objectives set by Absa Africa United for RBB.

The Business partner co-creates Finance capabilities required to lead to exponential growth and business effectiveness.

Job Description:

Financial Reporting Accountabilities

  • Prepare and coordinate the preparation of management reports, monthly scorecards, sales reports, special data analysis, and adhoc information reports to enable decision making
  • Submit financial reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Business unit head, Cluster Finance and the Group Finance Team on or before the agreed deadline
  • Ensure appropriate, quality and timeous delivery of accurate financial and nonfinancial management information to support business objectives and expectations, including appropriate financial and nonfinancial metrics, valid and insightful comments and packaging the information in a relevant and appropriate manner.
  • Analyse financial results on a monthly basis and summarise them so as to enable the Business unit Management Team take timely and appropriate actions. Highlight variances from the business plan and provide explanatory notes for those variances
  • Align to processes around monthend, yearend and planning cycles across the RBB finance community and BU based on the requirements from Group. Prepare for all cycles in advance and ensure adequate engagement with the relevant finance and BU teams.
  • Coordinate the preparation of budgets and variance reports by business units and ensure that Business managers are engaged within agreed timeframes
  • Sign off and discuss the monthly short term plan (STP), medium term plan (MTP) and rolling forecast (RAF) and budgets with the relevant stakeholders to enable consolidation into the Cluster forecast and budget.
  • Build trust in the Group finance and country finance function through the creation of a single source of financial information which is corroborated by related management information sources and alignment to the agreed accounting principles, methodologies, and underlying data are correctly applied.
  • Generate innovative easy to comprehend progress reports for Exco, countries and various stakeholders on their strategic agenda, shortterm and longterm plans. This will assist them to track against their investments, operational success metrics, efficiencies, risks and mitigations.
  • Own the process of delivery of highquality information for regular and adhoc enhanced reporting to agreed requirements, timelines, and standards. This will include consolidated country reporting, product reporting, margin analysis, various key metrics.
  • Suggest solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and operating efficiency of the business unit. Ensure that all action plans that have been agreed to are documented and assigned to the relevant owners and that the financial impact as regards the implementation is monitored.
  • Act in line with the correct governance and control frameworks across the Finance team, as well as for proactively addressing any deficiencies and exceptions.
  • Take a commercial view on business and provide contextual insights into performance reports. Provide insights across the markets and products. Provide management with key finance and strategic insights which can assist in driving management decisions
  • Provide thoughtleadership, insight, influence and challenge on evolving stakeholder information requirements and reporting processes to deliver analytics.
  • Develop and implement control procedures as deficiencies or exceptions are identified which support the production of errorfree reports. Assess and drive improvement of automation of business & country accounting practices and policies.
