Dis-Chem Pharmacies in KwaZulu Natal - New Germany has an opportunity available for a Machine Operator (Forklift).The main purpose of the role is to achieve operational operational excellence, within the Dis-Chem Distribution Centre.

Ensure efficient and accurate picking, replenishment and counting of stock in line with company standard operational procedures within the warehouse.

Transport of goods from one point to another as per management/ operational requirements using relevant machinery.

Minimum Requirement:

Essential:
Grade 12 or Senior CertificateValid Forklift Licence Job Description Test the hydraulics/ mechanical/ electrical systems of the machine and the information gauges to ensure that they are functioning properly
Verify that all points on the maintenance checklist are completeWhen parking the machine after a job is completed, park the machine in designated area and ensure the forks are touching the groundEnsure the forks and cage of the reach truck is cleanCheck if fuel/ charge are required and inform maintenance technician accordinglyAccurately report on the condition of the machine and any maintenance activity or replacement that may be required to the supervisorEnsure the machine operator agreement is understood and signedEnsure safety harness is worn when necessaryPack away or transport stock within the building, following the instructions from the scannerEnsure material on pallets is stable, neat and evenly distributed to ensure safe transportation of stockEnsure pallets are tightly wrapped before pallet is taken from source locationEnsure goods loaded are within the machines weight and size limitsPicking needs to happen per box, per level and done so accuratelyEnsure orders are picked, once an order is receivedEnsure that necessary totes/ boxes are used and rules are followed at all times, when receiving picking instructionsEnsure necessary standards of speed, accuracy and targets are maintained, while pickingEnsure all goods when picked are loaded into the system guided coloured tote or boxEnsure that the completed order is dropped off at the correct checking area or conveyorEnsure material on pallets is stable, neat and evenly distributed to ensure safe transportation of stockAssist the inventory controller or stock controller, by using the reach truck and a cage, when required to help with Inventory countsAssist the safe transportation of the inventory controller during these stock countsEnsure pallets are put back in its bin position, once counting has been doneAssist with movement of stock around the DC, when Inventory Department is busy with space planning
