An exciting opportunity exists for a
Laboratory Supervisor, at
NATIONAL BRANDS LIMITED Isando, Coffee and Creamer.

The purpose of the role is to manage the Laboratory at the respective location to ensure that all in-coming materials are compliant in all aspects of quality and food safety.

Job Specification:

Key Performance Areas:

  • To implement and maintain the running of the laboratory as per the ISO 17025 standard.
  • To carry out statistical analysis of captured data, providing valueadding opportunities for improvement in the Laboratory and factory environment.
  • To carry out physical and chemical analysis as required on standard and nonstandard raw and packaging materials.
  • To perform all quality/ hygienerelated duties in accordance with the laid down Quality Assurance Management System.
  • To ensure that the Laboratory equipment is fully functional and calibrated.
  • To ensure that the highest quality products are produced through regular checks on packaging against predetermined standards.
  • To liaise with suppliers on the rejection and upliftment of any nonconforming materials.
  • To supervise staff in the Laboratory.
  • To manage site chemical contaminant, water, pathogen and environmental micro plan.

Minimum Requirements:

Experience:

  • At least 5 years' experience gained in a supervisory capacity in the Quality/ Laboratory field
  • Food services industry experience essential

Qualifications:

  • Completed tertiary qualification in Food Technology or Food Science (National Diploma/ B.Tech/ B.Sc)

Additional Requirements:

  • SAP proficiency essential
  • Statistical analysis ability essential
  • Knowledge of ISO 17025 required
  • AIB knowledge is beneficial
