OVERALL PURPOSE


As the Azure DevOps Team Lead, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and coordinating the activities of our DevOps team, ensuring the seamless integration and delivery of software projects within the Azure cloud environment.

Your technical expertise and leadership will be instrumental in optimising our development processes, enhancing automation, and fostering a collaborative and efficient DevOps culture within the organisation.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, guiding them in implementing best practices and maintaining a robust and scalable Azure infrastructure.


Responsibilities will include:

  • Team Leadership:
  • Lead and mentor a team of DevOps engineers, providing guidance, support, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Set clear objectives, delegate tasks effectively, and monitor progress to ensure successful project execution.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and facilitate skill development within the team.
  • Azure Cloud Management:
  • Architect, deploy, and maintain Azurebased solutions, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
  • Implement Azure resource management and optimisation strategies to control costs and maximise efficiency.
  • Work with our Site Reliability team to ensure effective monitoring is in place and proactive resolution of issues.
  • CI/CD Pipeline Management:
  • Design and implement efficient continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for software projects.
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure seamless code integration, automated testing, and smooth deployment processes.
  • Improve and optimise existing CI/CD workflows to enhance software delivery speed and reliability.
  • Infrastructure Automation:
  • Drive the automation of infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and management processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) techniques.
  • Promote the adoption of configuration management tools to ensure consistency across environments.
  • Security and Compliance:
  • Work closely with our SecOps team to implement best practices for securing Azure resources and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and perform risk mitigation measures as necessary.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams, including developers, QA, and operations, to streamline workflows and foster a DevOps culture.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates on project status, challenges, and improvements.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Matric certificate or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in Azure cloud architecture, implementation, and management
  • 1+ years of experience in a leadership or supervisory position
  • Demonstrated expertise in building and managing CI/CD pipelines with Azure DevOps
  • Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and handson experience with tools like Terraform or ARM templates
