Underwriting Assistant - Global Property Facultative
in our Johannesburg Office.

Key Responsibilities
The Role

This is a challenging and rewarding role involving multiple work areas for Gen Re internally and externally, as well as for our clients both locally and in the UK:

  • Support Underwriters in their efforts to achieve agreed goals as outlined in the Strategic Plans
  • Ability to handle complex Clearances and account setups based on the supplied information
  • Perform Clearance, account setup, and process a variety of pre
- and post-binding accounts

  • Processing of premium within company systems per our Facultative procedures and guidelines
  • Participate in training, quoting UA, bundled business, quality review, or other valueadded projects
  • Update local address/contact management systems and appropriate marketing tool
  • Extract and prepare branch reports as necessary, and followup on accounts at Underwriter direction
  • Cooperate with Underwriters and Global Finance in the management/follow up of receivables
  • Excellent communication skills with internal and external clients in support of business and branch
  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of client events

Qualifications & Experience
We are looking for top applicants that have graduated with a commercial degree or someone with the equivalent experience. Applicants should also have a desire to learn and acquire new skills.

  • Excellent IT skills

  • Strong communication skills including verbal and written skills including the ability to summarize and explain complex information clearly and concisely.
