Qualifications:
Appropriate qualification that allows for registration with HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Internal Medicine
Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Specialist - Internal Medicine
No experience required after registration with the HPCSA Medical Specialist - Internal Medicine
Duties:
Daily ward round with registrars, medical officers and interns
- Responsible for attending to medical inpatients.
Afterhours and weekend unit cover and ward rounds in rotation with other fellows and consultants in the unitAttending senior consultant ward rounds daily.
Daily clinic duties seeing 15-20 old and new medical outpatientsSupervising registrars in clinic and the wardAttending various combine multidisciplinary meetings (MDT) including the Histology/Radiology/Oncology/Surgery/MDT meetingMonthly M&M and Academic meeting participationTeaching GEMP students with bedside teaching weekly and teaching registrars and interns.
Outreach Week of Edenvale/BGH Hospital ward rounds on a monthly basis as per a unit roster.Administration and accurate consenting with record keeping of patient files and data.
GEMP medical student exams with marking written and clinical exams plus case reports.
Research Sub investigator at Wits Clinical Research Unit
