Title: Senior HR Business Partner (Practitioner)

Industry: Mining / Construction Sector HR experience required

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Senior HR Business Partner (Practitioner) for a permanent position in Kathu.

The Recruitment Guy is looking to hire an experienced Senior Human Resources Business Partner / Practitioner (with exposure/experience in mining / construction sector) in Kathu. This role involves mid-management reporting to the Site Manager and National Group HR Manager.

• We are specifically seeking experienced HRBPs with mining or construction industry background who meet the criteria outlined in the job description.
• Applications that do not meet these criteria may be deemed unsuccessful if no response is received within 2 weeks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide effective generalist support to achieve company's strategic objectives.
• Support management on labor management.
• Implement and uphold labor-related policies and procedures.
• Ensure satisfactory labor relations and participate in negotiations.
• Manage HR department administration and communication effectively.
• Interact professionally with various stakeholders including management, employees, union officials, and other relevant parties.

POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

• Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures for employee relations.
• Offer guidance on legislation, regulations, and practices related to employee relations.

COMMUNICATION

• Participate in meetings with shop stewards and employee representatives.
• Engage in wage negotiations and dispute resolution activities.
• Prepare and distribute staff briefings and minutes.

ADVISORY ROLE

• Advise on labor relations matters and act as a link between employees and management.
• Interpret management proposals for union representatives.

TRAINING

• Conduct training sessions on labor relations legislation for management and staff.
• Coordinate training with service providers.

RECRUITMENT & ONBOARDING

• Handle job descriptions, advertisements, shortlisting, and competency assessments.
• Conduct interviews, reference checks, onboarding, and induction processes.
• Manage employment confirmations.

TERMINATION PROCESS

• Facilitate termination procedures, prepare exit documents, and ensure statutory obligations are met.
• Handle payroll-related tasks and provident fund matters effectively.

PAYROLL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Process payroll data, leave forms, and payslips accurately and on time.
• Address payroll inquiries and manage provident fund-related issues.
• Handle medical aid changes and garnishee orders efficiently.

EMPLOYEE RELATIONS

• Investigate misconduct allegations, advise on best practices, and conduct disciplinary hearings.
• Represent the company in external forums and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
• Manage union memberships and facilitate relevant meetings.

ADMINISTRATION

• Ensure employee documents are updated and oversee employment contracts.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

• Adhere to company rules and meet deadlines effectively.
• Be prepared for additional tasks assigned by the department head.

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

• Tertiary qualification in HR (NQF Level 5 or higher) required.
• Grade 12 and relevant external accreditation needed.

Experience: 3+ years in unions and negotiations, 3-5 years in a similar organization, and proficiency in MS Office.

• Strong work ethic, communication skills, conflict management abilities, and organizational skills are essential.
