Our client, a multinational packaging company seeks to employ a skilled, qualified and experienced Packaging Field Technician, with seasoned experience that will aid in the coordination between internal and external technical projects while serving as the critical link between Sales and customers in technical/manufacturing effort.


KEY REQUIREMENTS TO MEET FOR CONSIDERATION

  • You will have exceptional attention to detail, be analytical, communicate effectively and be results driven.
  • You must have a relevant tertiary qualification in Packaging/Printing or Science/Engineering related studies coupled with 8 years' experience in Labels Printing, Customer Support, and a minimum 3 years' experience analysing technical manufacturing issues and implementing
- solutions

  • You must have industry background and/or strong understanding of inks, adhesives, coatings, lamination, gravure, flexography and other printing methods, curable coatings, converting, diecutting, film/substrates, labels/packaging and related materials required, as well as indepth technical knowledge of the machinery and technology in a printing environment.
  • You must be familiar active communication with industry contacts to serve as technical resources for all phases and areas involved in product development from laboratory testing through commercialization.
  • You must be assertive communicator with keen sense of followup/follow through, as well as have the ability to lead/coordinate multiple projects across teams and manage competing priorities.
  • You must have SPC* Design experience (*Method of QC which employs statistical methods to monitor and control a process. Key tools used in SPC include run charts, control charts, focus on continuous improvement and design of experiments, etc.), as well as knowledge/experience with material regulatory compliance desirable.
  • You must have a strong proficiency with MS Office Suite to include intermediate ability with Excel (pivot tables, macros, formulas)
  • You will be leading and coordinating technical projects focused on the implementation of innovative and sustainable label packaging solutions, and you will also coordinate projects with ink, coating, adhesive and substrate suppliers to achieve development of innovative and sustainable label solutions.
  • You will design trials and follow through the entire print/converting process, collaborate with Operations and Quality to define process procedures and label performance testing required. Summarize trial results and coordinate next steps internally and externally, as well as champion new ideas for innovative packaging solutions and qualify/implement with Customers.
  • You will coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and coordinate the resources to ensure high priority print and product issues are resolved within reasonable/customeracceptable time frame, coupled with your ability to develop and qualify sustainable pressure sensitive label solutions on various types of containers: HDPE, PET, PP, Glass, and Aluminum.
  • You will serve as internal and external technical resource in troubleshooting print issues to include ink, adhesive, and substrate materials, manufacturing, and quality processes, as well as determining root causes of observed problems; recommend and implement solutions, as well as communicate, coordinate and collaborate with all affected internal and external departments (customer service, prepress, sales and production) as needed in technical issue resolution and bestpractice manufacturing methods to include developing and documenting specifications and/or requirements for given products.
