About the Role

Responsibilities:

  • Serving as the initial point of escalation for software development issues within specific area of responsibility
  • Working closely with other development team members to understand product requirements and translate them into software designs.
  • Implementing development processes, coding best practices and code reviews
  • Operating in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders
  • Completing complex bug fixes, and resolving technical issues
  • Mentoring your team, ensuring that they are knowledgeable in critical aspects of their roles, providing clear feedback.
  • Keeping abreast of new technology developments
  • Designing and working with complex data models
  • Managing your team, including interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; and giving appropriate feedback
  • Encouraging new ideas from staff to foster improvements through innovations and empowering them to be accountable.

Requirements:

  • Have substantial Software Engineering experience.
  • Have a BS degree in Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Have an advanced knowledge of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
  • Have the ability to partner with and lead internal and external technology resources to solve business needs.
  • Have good knowledge of testdriven development.
  • Have an excellent understanding of data modelling principles, data manipulation languages and storage systems.
  • Be expert in development languages, including JAVA/J2EE, JavaScript, JSP, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, NoSQL, Windows, UNIX.Net, Kafka, SQS, AWS and Kubernetes.
  • Have an advanced knowledge of industry best practices.
  • Show an aptitude for achieving business objectives through managing others.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent organisational skills when dealing with multiple priorities, able to think analytically. Be a natural problem solver, able to take a lead in collaborating to resolve issues.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to convey information clearly to a wide audience.
