Mechanical Draughtsman

In this role as Mechanical Draughtsman, your primary function is to create technical drawings for our products and projects using a computer-aided design program, Autodesk Inventor Professional.

These drawings are an essential tool for our production team, so they must be very detailed, complete with building schedules, annotations, and materials.

You will also collaborate with the engineers, adjusting the plan based on their notes or recommendations and calculating material and equipment requirements.

• Create detailed technical drawings and plans for production purposes.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to understand project requirements and objectives to develop new innovative designs.
• Utilize computeraided design (CAD) software to produce accurate 2D and 3D drawings.
• Ensuring final designs are compliant with specifications.
• Design diagrams, maps and layouts to illustrate workflow.
• Calculate dimensions and material requirements.
• Produce bill of materials.
• Conduct thorough reviews of drawings to identify any errors or inconsistencies and make necessary revisions.
• Collaborate with other team members to resolve designrelated issues and provide technical support.
• Prepare CNC Machine files for production job cards.
• Maintain an organized database of drawings and related documents for future reference.
• Good understanding of customer deliverables and the impact of failure/cost of poor quality.
• Stay updated with the latest industry trends, software advancements, and best practices in draughtsmanship.

• A National Senior Certificate
• Two years of minimum experience in a similar role and/or a relevant tertiary qualification.
• Proficient in using computeraided design (CAD) software, such as Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of engineering principles, technical drawing standards, and industry codes.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to produce accurate and errorfree drawings.
• Good communication skills to effectively collaborate with engineers and other stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently as well as in a teamoriented environment.
• Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to propose creative solutions to design challenges.
• A degree or certification in mechanical engineering, drafting, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
