If so, this could be the opportunity for you: developing and implementing a standard for well-managed, sustainable fisheries.

The MSC is currently recruiting for a Fisheries Standard Manager.


You'll have the opportunity to contribute to the running of the MSC's Fisheries Standard and oversee the certification of fisheries by third-party auditors.


You will join a close-knit team who develop the Fisheries Standard and are responsible for more than 400 fisheries in the MSC Program, ensuring that our requirements are applied correctly and consistently.


In this role you will:
- have oversight of a portfolio of fisheries that are undergoing assessment or annual review by third-party auditors
- carry out technical review of assessment reports, ensuring that MSC's requirements and processes are being applied correctly
- be involved in the development of the MSC Fisheries Standard and related certification processes, in line with global best practice
- support colleagues and stakeholders in understanding and communicating the MSC's requirements to a range of audiences

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • degree, or equivalent experience, in a sustainability or environmental discipline;
- demonstrable knowledge and experience in fisheries science and management of tuna fisheries (this includes a good working knowledge of the development or implementation of harvest strategies, harvest control rules, stock assessment or fisheries monitoring);
- a strong teamwork ethic, excellent project planning, organisation, and time management skills;
- experience working with stakeholders and other external parties to develop policy;
- a track record of successfully managing relationships with stakeholders, collaborators, and colleagues.

Please note this role can be based from the MSC offices in Madrid, Cape Town or Paris. Other MSC offices in Europe may be considered.
