Job Description:
CREDIT ANALYST
The key characteristic challenge in this role is to assist the Credit Risk Manager to manage risks through a combination of routine & pro-active checks on individual credits and the portfolio as a whole.
Key Responsibilities:
Meet KPIs related to review of proposals, reporting and other performance standards.
Liaise with the Branches to recommend structural enhancements with regard to credit risk proposals.
Highlighting any shortfall or dilution in collateral value to the credit process chain.
Documentation of proposal related information to be in conformity with requirements as set out internally
Maintain physical and electronic documentation of all proposal related information
Review of existing client exposures, active monitoring of key clients/large exposures and exposures to specific products
Review frameworks for assessment of different types of lending transactions.
Check monthly/quarterly portfolio review reports.
Monitoring of facilities implemented, deposits under lien in the account, revision in limits & adherence to terms and conditions of approval.
Recording of results of any re-valuations of collateral and in case of a shortfall the credit must be submitted for immediate review to concerned authorities.
Undertake specific projects/assignments from time to time as directed by the line manager.
Job Competencies -Technical
An in-depth level of understanding and analysis of financial statements
Be proactive in problem solving and deadline orientated
Sound understanding of the SA market for SME lending & Trade Finance
Proficiency in the use of Excel spread-sheets, Word Documents and PowerPoint
The ability to work in a time constrained situations and cross-cultural environment
Job Competencies -Behavioural
Sound verbal and written skills with highly developed presentational and business writing skills
Commitment and flexibility
Team player with an eye for attention to details & Ability to organise, prioritise and multi-task
Confident in interacting frequently across all business areas and with senior management
Sound interpersonal and relationship management skills, and have the capability to demonstrate good commercial judgement
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree with majors in accounting and auditing/ Post-Graduate Degree is preferred
Approachable and polite, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, providing accurate information, deadline driven and client service orientated.
Minimum of 3 years' credit experience within a banking organization would be an advantage
