Film & Event Media is growing its editorial team and has a great opportunity for a junior journalist/writer graduate who wants to work in online and digital media.


As a journalist/ content writer, you will learn to cover the latest news, produce interesting articles and features, and sub-edit content relevant to the industries we cover and for all publications - all while receiving first-class training.


Responsibilities—what you'll do:

  • Content Creation
  • Topic and Content Research
  • Business communication
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Social Media Content and Marketing
  • Website and Content Management
  • Lead Generation
  • Strategising, planning and implementing ways grow FEM audiences

Requirements:

  • Diploma/Degree in Journalism, PR Communications, Marketing or other related fields
  • Fully fluent in English
  • Willingness to understand and navigate the digital space
  • Proficient in MS Office software including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Proficient on Google platforms, e.g. GDrive, Sheets, Docs, Slideshow, etc.
  • Proficient on social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for business
  • Proficient in WordPress CMS with a good understanding of writing and editing for SEO is advantageous
  • Basic understanding of Canva and Figma is advantageous.
Remuneration: 3 month renewable contract at R6000pm

Company Description - About Film & Event Media
Film & Event Media is a publishing house established in 2003.

It is home to several digital trade publications and platforms:

the bi-monthly Callsheet Africa serving the film industry, SA Chef Media serving chefs, restaurants and the foodservice sector; two annual marketing resources, namely the Event Planner's Guide to Africa and the Filmmaker's Guide to Africa; Event Africa, serving the exhibitions, conferencing, incentives and meetings sector; and the Live-Cook Channel, a monthly live-streamed show with a B2C audience.

The company also takes on several bespoke or special publishing and video production projects for clients annually.

Requirements:

Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related degree.

Proven digital graphic design experience.

Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, and Figma.

Ability to work remotely. Be diligent and disciplined.

Experience with Wordpress, Elementor and Canva is advantageous.

Print design experience is advantageous.

Portfolio of illustrations or other graphics.

Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.

Experience in MS Office.

Communication skills and a keen eye on English spelling and grammar.

Two years' work experience is advantageous.
