ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING IN-SERVICE TRAINEE


The trainee in this role will be provided with practical Work Integrated Learning (WIL) experience to complete and obtain the qualification.

The incumbent will be exposed to a wide variety of satellite ground station operations and activities which involve working with antenna systems and equipment to facilitate (i) the direct reception of Earth-Observation satellite data and related services, (ii) participating in the provision of Tracking, Telemetry, and Command (TT&C) services, satellite operations and monitoring services, to our partners, customers, and stakeholders.

which include International space agencies and satellite operators.

Key areas of learning will include but are not limited to:

  • Operate, maintain, and monitor antenna systems, Radio Frequency (RF), electronic, telecommunications and computer hardware or software systems and equipment associated with satellite ground station operations.
  • Participate in rendering specialized Tracking, Telemetry & Command (TT&C) launch support services to SLVs (Satellite launch vehicles) Transfer-Orbit Support (TOS), Launch and Early-Orbit Phase (LEOP), Emergency, In-Orbit Test (IOT) services, routine lifecycle support operations, etc.
  • To conduct routine preventative maintenance and in first line reactive maintenance, to SANSAowned or stakeholder or customerowned systems, equipment and infrastructure.
  • To participate in adhoc project work and the opportunity to work on, or add value to, existing or new projects, systems, and processes.
  • S3/S4 Electronic Engineering qualification with good academic results specializing in Telecommunications.
  • Final year of studies and in search of P1 and P2 inservice training to complete the qualification.
  • Satellite Technology coursework.
  • Proficient in the English language and good communication skills.
  • Computer skills.
  • Must be able to use both hands and have good vision.
  • We are in a remote area with no access to public transport, applicants need to have a valid driver's license and reliable transport to and from work.
