Position:
Handyman/Cleaner (Male)

Duties & Responsibilities

  • To take responsibility for upholding and complying with the School's Equality and Diversity policies and for behaving in ways that are consistent with fair and equal treatment for all.
  • To comply with all School Health and Safety policies.

Maintenance:

  • Basic knowledge of the following: woodwork, plumbing, welding, electronics, electrical works
  • Basic knowledge of the following: small building works
  • Able to do repairs and new projects as needed
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety (safe practices and safety checks)

Cleaning:

  • Experience in cleaning in a school environment will be an advantage
  • Knowledge of different cleaning products and tools
  • Basic knowledge of Health and Safety (safe practices and safety checks)
  • Gardening experience will be an advantage

Post requirements:

  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to communicate in Afrikaans will be an advantage
  • Strong team player.
  • Strong analytical skills perform well under pressure and able to solve problems
  • Strong ethics trustworthy, hard working, disciplined, motivated
  • Strong Christian values
  • Strong character not afraid to work
  • Strong physical abilities need to be able to assist where and when needed. Need to be able to do physical cleaning/maintenance work. Also need to be able to move between schools and thrive in a fast paced environment
  • Need to be able to think on your feet
  • Need to be able to communicate well with staff, visitors and students on all levels.
  • Need to be Teachable and willing to learn and grow
  • Previous experience in a cleaning/maintenance environment
  • Creativity
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Clear criminal record
