Job Summary

To provide specialist advice and support in area of specialisation enabling the effective implementation of risk frameworks.

Job Description:

Risk Management Governance within FSSA |

Stakeholder Management:
Build and Maintain effective Relationships with relevant stakeholders |

Risk Reporting:

Identify, assess and Report key risks arising from significant events, investigations, audit and control issues | | Risk and Control: Performing assurance activities to ensure that Risk are appropriately mitigated.

Key Accountabilities

Accountability:
Assurance coordinator

  • Pre engagement activities coordination;
  • Facilitation of interaction throughout assurance engagements;
  • Issue resolution during assurance engagement;
  • Coordination of post engagement and reporting, including tracking of assurance remediation to completion, and ensuring post remediation closure of issues, and closure pack submission, where applicable;

Accountability:
Assurance agenda

  • Develop an indepth knowledge of Absa and the business areas and use this knowledge to execute on assurance responsibilities;
  • Actively participate in all the audit/review phases planning and scoping (identification of risks and controls), fieldwork (execution of design and operating effectiveness assessments) and reporting (ensure audit observations and planned actions are agreed with management for factual accuracy);
  • Ensure delivery adheres to the Assurance methodology and quality standards;
  • Prepare observations and make sure that they are concise, factually accurate and cover all of the significant issues. The observations must be insightful; address the root causes, and have agreed actions that fully mitigate the risk;
  • Where standard control testing does not provide the required assurance, assist with the design of additional methods of assurance;
  • Continuously enhance the assurance techniques by increasing the use of technology;
  • Conduct reviews, investigations, and/or ad hoc projects within the business area as per plan or where concerns have been raised or where there is potential significant unmitigated risk, including the review, challenge and tracking / escalation of findings;
  • Conduct post incident reviews and produce relevant MI to analyse root causes and ensure learning points are identified and any necessary remedial action is implemented with a view to improving Business processes;

  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders;
  • Ongoing and proactive engagement with stakeholders to understand processes and actively identify possible risk and issues;
Role/Person Specification

Education and Experience Required

  • B degree/similar qualification
  • Approximately 3 years experience in risk management, preferably in a financial institution shared services environment
  • Basic accounting skills / experience
