Description

The Functional Solutions Specialist role involves the implementation, management, and optimisation of the compliance module within CRIMS, ensuring alignment with various legislative and mandate requirements. The Specialist will also oversee daily portfolio compliance monitoring, data maintenance, and act as a subject matter expert on coding and compliance rule implementation.

Key result areas

Implementation and Management :

Implement the Compliance module of Charles River for mandate and legislative purposes. Ensure compliance with CISCA, Regulation 28 of the Pension Funds Act, Regulation 29 of the Medical Schemes Act, UCITS, and other applicable African countries' regulations. Maintain and update compliance rules, mandates, and legislation within the system.

Compliance Monitoring :

Conduct daily portfolio compliance monitoring for all unit trusts and segregated mandates. Investigate breaches identified internally and externally, and follow up on control weaknesses to ensure continuous compliance.

Data Maintenance :

Oversee the maintenance of data within the system until the Data Maintenance team takes over.

Regulatory and Internal Collaboration :

Manage compliance monitoring for FAIS, FICA (limited exposure), Pension funds, and personal account trading. Address queries from trustees, FSCA visits, Legal, Risk, and Complaints departments.

Training and Knowledge Sharing :

Train new employees and share knowledge with other departments to ensure a high level of understanding and compliance across the organisation.

Subject Matter Expertise :

Act as a subject specialist on the coding and implementation of compliance rules, mandates, and legislation. Provide compliance opinions on investment classifications.

Requirements: skills, qualifications and experience required

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, IT, or a related field. Relevant certifications in compliance and investment management are a plus. Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in compliance management within the financial services industry. Extensive experience with the Charles River Investment System or similar front-office trading systems. Strong knowledge of CISCA, Regulation 28, Regulation 29, UCITS, and other African countries' legislation. Proficiency in coding and implementation of compliance rules within trading systems. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
