Role Purpose


The Data Science and Analyst Audit Lead is currently recruiting for a Data Scientist to assist in creating and delivering data-driven solutions that will add business value through the use of statistical models, machine learning algorithms, data mining and visualisation techniques throughout the Internal Audit (IA) cycle.


Requirements:

  • Post graduate degree in Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Engineering or Computer Science field.
  • 4 years data analysis experience within the financial services environment.
  • Experience with at least one programming language (e.g. Python), business analytics software (e.g. SAS) statistical package (e.g. R).
  • Experience in database language (e.g. SQL).
  • Exposure to Audit and assurance (IT related Audit and Advisory) and Risk Management disciplines is an advantage.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist the function in strategic recommendations on data collection and experimental design incorporating business requirements and knowledge of best practices.
  • Collaborate with business to define approach to resolution of key business problems or development of new business strategies.
  • Be able to identify, understand and interpret data structures across various databases within the business to facilitate data analysis and continuous monitoring activities.
  • Present data analysis (trends, insights, forecasts), to show tangible business impact to be derived from the data science process.
  • Contribute to the development of differentiated; superior solutions that meet stakeholder and business requirements through analysis; business requirements gathering and designs validation.
  • Adopting of agile work practices and working closely with senior members of the IA team to collate, consolidate and visually present dataled insights for reporting and planning.
  • Assist in modelling and framing business scenarios that are meaningful and which impact on critical business processes and/or decisions.
  • Participate in the discovery of processes with business stakeholders to identify problems and opportunities that may be addressed with statistical modelling or machine learning.
  • Use advanced data science skills to mine and interpret IA data.

These include but are not limited to:

advanced statistics, data wrangling, data mining, data analysis, feature engineering and predictive modeling, distributed computing, machine learning tools and data intuition, to analyse and interpret complex IA data-sets for reporting and planning.


  • Have ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary and specialist environment. To cocreate with other teams across different business units.
  • Experience in translating statistical findings into business recommendations.
  • Formulating business problems and scenarios to enable statistical modelling.
  • Have ability to communicate the outputs and insights to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Assist in coming up with solutions to enhance cost effectiveness and increase operational efficiency.
