Purpose of the job is to provide advanced analytical chemistry analysis insights to support intrinsic strategies and requirements through best practices and technologies.


Key responsibilities:

  • Support intrinsic research, innovation, renovation, and excellence projects with advanced analytical chemistry analysis across the full product portfolio (wine, spirits, ciders, RTDs, nonalcoholic beverages).
  • Conduct advanced intrinsic assessments on new and existing manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct competitor product chemical analysis to obtain insights as part of benchmarking program.
  • Provide accurate, reliable chemical analysis results to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
  • Utilize analytical methodologies and instrumentation for optimal output and analysis to support key strategic intrinsic programs.
  • Execute advanced analytical chemistry analysis on defined projects and competitor product analysis.
  • Translate analysis accurately into conclusive results and recommendation for decision making.
  • Active participation in problem solving analysis as required to assist with step change recommendations.
  • Build effective relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Achieve results and drive solutions through trusting relationships with team members, line manager, peers, and other business units within Heineken Beverages.
  • Provide valueadd feedback to intrinsic team on new insights obtained.
  • Continuous review and maintenance of chemical analytical methods and work procedures.
  • New method development and validation in line with best practice practices and principles.

Education and skills required:

  • B Degree or Diploma in Analytical Chemistry.
  • MSc in analytical chemistry would be advantageous.
  • 35 years of chemistry analysis experience in beverage/food industry or commercial laboratory.
  • Gas and liquid chromatography experience is highly recommended.
  • Ability to work under pressure accurately using strong planning, organizing, and coordinating skills.
  • Service minded, ability to listen and assist in problem solving.
  • Good communication, planning and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) and experienced in use of analytical chemistry software packages.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • Experience in ISO, SANAS or other accredited laboratory would be an advantage.
