Job Description:

The Product Support Technician is responsible for providing process, electronic, and mechanical expertise required in various aspects of Technology Support's Business.

Technology Support is a department within DBT (de beers Technology)-SA which provides specialized technical support to both internal and external client's. The key purpose of this role is to provide technical support at various phases of the business.

Your role will:

Read, interpret, and assemble trade specific items according to design diagrams and drawings, Agility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities, Optimize diamond efficiency and recovery across all unit processes deployed across the various mining operations. Perform quarterly inspections, site optomisation and callouts across the deployed fleet of diamond recovery unit processes. Support internal testing of Sale of Spares, Stores items and Completed unit processes as part of factory acceptance testing as well as site acceptance testing. Propose design improvements and best practices in both the mechanical and electrical assembly methods and processes, for a more efficient manufacturing and support process, Contribute towards improvements in assembly procedures and safe work procedures, Ensure compliance with Company policies and procedures, Ensure adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and legal requirements. Travel to various global operations with the intent of providing support and assurance. Qualifications:

Formal qualifications:

Recognised Technician Qualification (S4 / N6, BTech or equivalent). Five years or more relevant industrial experience in the arena of Electrical or electronics engineering. Computer literate in the Microsoft suite of packages, Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal), Experience with respect to, repairs, maintenance, and fault diagnostics of automation systems. PLC and Software integration experience Remote diagnostic experience. Machine intelligence.

Additional requirements:

A valid code driver's license will be advantageous.

Role-specific knowledge:

Understanding of electrical, electronic and mechanical trade requirements, standards, and concepts, Computer literate in the Microsoft suite of packages Expertise with test equipment (oscilloscopes, meters, insulation testing, test jigs etc.) · Good customer relationship management skills Problem solving skills · Attention to details. Good interpersonal skills: able to relate to and communicate with multidisciplinary personnel. The ability to liaise directly with technical managers will be vital in this role. Ability to work relatively independently with agility to adapt to changing schedules and priorities. Ability to create technical documentation and procedures. Basic finance and commercial principles · Ability to understand the benefits of working within a team environment. Good in technical report writing. Understanding of diamond recovery technology and associated metallurgical services would be advantageous. Flexible with the ability to work with different professionals on multiple/varied task. Ability to work within a team – maintains and nurtures good working relationships, Understand and satisfy internal and External customer requirements, Raise safety, performance and production related problems and provide progress updates to management.
