Buyer

Duties:

Attend Technical review meetings and discuss requirements related to material, consumables and services required. Evaluate new contracts and determine buy-out requirements.

Find best products for the best price, from reliable vendors.

Since the buyer's buying decision has a direct impacting the company's profit margin, he/she will be responsible to negotiate the best price with vendors and find ways to obtain the best discounts.

Issue purchase orders and verify that the vendors have received them.

Ensure that materials are received in a timely manner. Buyer must follow up on all purchase orders to ensure that scheduled delivery dates are met. If delivery date cannot be met, this must be communicated, by written memo, to scheduling as quickly as feasible. This part of the buyers responsibility is as critical as purchasing the required materials.

The buyer will determine and establish delivery dates that ensure a timely delivery yet do not come so early as to waste valuable space or tie up financial resources.

The buyer will assure that the acquisition of all goods or services will meet the requirements of the contract as well as government and engineering specifications.

The buyer will record dates and pricing information on the estimate for future reference by the estimators.

Track and maintain proper levels of stocked inventory and ensure that levels do not fall below operational reorder points.

This will require evaluating needs and congregating orders when feasible.

Assist the estimating department in project bidding.

Initiate and implement process improvement initiatives for departments.

The buyer will be responsible to communicate with the estimating department changes in the market place. This information is important for the estimators to provide accurate and competitive bids with reasonable delivery dates. As such, the buyer must communicate moderate changes in material prices, or changing lead times, to estimators.

The buyer will be responsible to obtain material certification for all raw materials

The buyer will be responsible to assure that all outside vendors who add value to our product such as heat treatment, outside machining, etc., will have a certificate of insurance added to delivery to MZANSI.

The buyer is responsible for keeping the suppliers list updated.

The Buyer is responsible for continuously sourcing new suppliers to reduce cost and increase quality if the need arises the suppliers list

Educational Qualification

Must have a Valid Matric Certificates

Relevant qualification is essential.

Previous experience in the Engineering industry essential

Work Experience

Minimum of (3) Three years working Experience in the Procurement in Engineering sector

Salary:
R7, R8,000.00 per month
