Grade 12 or Equivalent NQF 4 qualification

• Blasting certificate
• Shift Supervisor Training Certificate
• Competend A and B
• 5 Years experience as a Stoping Shift Boss
• Lead mining teams including stoping and development
• Enforce the provisions MHSA, including all Regulations as amended.
• Observe and enforce any codes of practice, any instructions, procedures, directives, permissions, exemptions

etc. issued by the mine, the DMR or any other person who is authorized to do so. Any further clarification
regarding the interpretation of the "MHSA", the regulations, codes of practice, instructions, directives,
permissions, exemptions etc. will be supplied to you on request by your management.

• Ensure the maintenance of proper discipline of all persons under your supervision. Daily onthejob coaching

and on-site training sessions must be conducted and recorded in the logbook.

• Provide and maintain a working environment that is safe and without undue risk to the health of employees

within your area of responsibility. Make use of the latest risk matrix provided in the logbook to assess and
eliminate or reduce risks

• Ensure that you and the persons under your supervision are empowered to stop any working place when the

Occupational Health and/or Safety of any such persons are endangered, or instructed to do so by the person
appointed in terms of section 23 of the MHSA

• Consider an employees training and capability, knowledge, and skill in respect of Health and Safety before

allowing such person to continue with his work or before assigning specific or specialized tasks to that
employee

• Provide adequate Health and Safety coaching and onsite training of employees and assess an employees

competency-based on his knowledge, skills, and experience.

• Inspect all areas for which he/she is appointed and ensure a record of such inspection is kept in the shift

supervisor logbook.

• Conduct a proper workplace early and late shift and record all findings in your logbook
• Examine the refuge bays in your section, sustainability, seating, firstaid equipment, and communication

system and record it in your logbook

• Examine all travelling ways and temporary and permanent barricades in the area of responsibility and ensure

it is signed off in the weekly inspections logbook

• Do a Planned Inspections and Planned Task Observation (PTO) and record the findings in your logbook in

the provided format, ensuring feedback is given to safety and training departments on your findings.

• Inspect and verify his/her miner's safe workplace declarations
• Hold a weekly safety meeting with the teams and record it in the logbook. Give feedback to the Mine

Overseer and safety department, conduct a contraband search when doing early and late shifts

• Conduct early and late shift examination on barring, stope panel, winches, and centre gully
• Oversee face examination to establish miss fires and face condition, barricades, and support
• Ensure quality stoping and grade control with minimal dilution, overbreak and underbreak.
• Ensure accurate measurement and achievement of the daily and monthly (call square meters/meters and

tons)

• Oversee the correct charging up of the face to ensure a quality daily blast
• Ensure explosives are dealt with according to the mines standards & procedures
• Conduct, assist and participate in disciplinary and grievance hearings
• Assess and manage risks to provide and maintain a safe working environment
• Submit incident report in writing when required
• Ensure all tasks performed in his/her areas of responsibility are aligned with the mines standards &

- procedures

Salary: 60K - 75K p/m
