Your TeamAGCS has a rich history of supporting property and business interruption (PDBI) insurance solutions across various industries, from upper-middle-market clients to large corporations.Our team holds extensive practical experience in managing the most significant PDBI risks in the South African market with international insurance programs.The Team comprises of 2 Senior Underwriters.
The Influence You Will EnactBased in Johannesburg and part of the Property UW Community of the Mediterranean and Africa-Middle East (MEDA) (approximately 30 people in total within MEDA), you will be reporting to the Regional Property UW Manager (based in France) and closely collaborating with clients and brokers to craft tailored solutions and foster new relationships.You will collaborate with a Senior Team to underwrite profitable new and renewal business. Your duties will also involve supporting negotiations for participation, pricing, and terms & conditions, acquiring new business, and retaining existing clients.
Some of your specific responsibilities could include
  • Develop and implement the Property Line of Business (LoB) local strategy and actively support the global LoB strategy;
  • Cultivate and maintain strong ties with brokers and clients;
  • Ownership of large accounts/clients with ultimate responsibility;
  • Expand regionally in the Middle East;
  • Actively support the acquisition of new business and retention of existing business;
  • Coordinate with local Distribution for successful execution of the strategic plan;
  • Represent AGCS positively internally within the Allianz Group and externally to the market;
  • Drive the involvement of functional areas in the Underwriting process.

What You'll Bring to the Role
  • Solid relevant experience as an Underwriter, Broker, or equivalent in the insurance sector;
  • Completion of relevant local regulatory exams;
  • An entrepreneurial mindset and strong communication skills;
  • Ability to assess risks, coverages, and conditions of insurance placements;
  • A true team player with established market relationships at peer group level.
