QUALIFICATIONS:
Min 7 years Insurance experience of which min 5 years must be Commercial Underwriting.
Relevant Insurance qualifications, min 120 NQF credits on NQF Level 4.Completed Regulatory Exams (RE5).Must be Risk conscious.
Professional, well-spoken, and good attention to detail.
Strong negotiator must have persuasion and problem-solving skills.
Very broad general insurance knowledge.
Good understanding of Risk classification and geographical risk factors.
Ability to adapt to change and to work under pressure and within short deadlines.
Analysing business, profitability, and broker portfolios.
Ability to work with various individuals with different knowledge, skill and experience.
Must be analytical and must cope with large work volumes and interruptions.

Must be fully bilingual (English/Afrikaans)(speak and write).Must be technologically driven and comfortable with different operating packages including Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Word.

Must be a team player and creator of trust.
Eager to learn, Assertive, Positive and Focused.

Disciplined and principled Knowledge:
Must have good working knowledge and understanding of the insurance industry and industry organogram including competitors.
Must have good knowledge of Insurance legislation and compliance.

Comprehensive knowledge of the Company's products and value-added products and benefits, including all classes of businessMust manage the whole Underwriting functionality from rating, endorsements, renewal terms/ conditions and cancellations.

Clear understanding of claims process, procedures, and approach to claims handling.
Being able to do risk analysis at policy level, and broker portfolio level.
Know the company divisional heads and when to refer underwriting quotes/queries.

Requirements:
Matric / Grade 12.ND / B Tech / B Eng. / BSc. Eng. Qualification in either Mechanical, Electrical, Process or Chemical Engineering from a recognized institution – Degree preferable.
Minimum 5 years working experience in a general management role.
Experience in Boiler plants will be an added advantage.
Good understanding and experience of the costs involved in plant downtime.
Strong business development experience.
Excellent client relationship.
Strong ethical principles and a good standing in the industry.
Willing to work extended hours when the need arises.

Key Responsibilities:
Production – Monitor and proactive management of key metrics such as efficiencies, availability, critical commodities, and water treatment.

Maintenance – Planning, monitoring, administration, and financial management of the maintenance activitiesClient relations – Ongoing relationship building by meeting and keeping the client regularly informed, accurate and on time reporting, dealing with site related issues speedily and looking for ways to increase the service offering.

HR – Appointment, administration, performance monitoring, training, motivation and sanction of regional personnel and communication of same to head office.

Marketing – Regular feedback on market information, leads obtained, proposals submitted, new business achieved and marketing to existing client base.

Financial – Administration and management of the region's financial health through regular monitoring of key metrics, administration of client and supplier invoices, proactive management of debtors and communicating same to the Financial Director.

Health & Safety – Manage region's H&S through the appointment and training of a representative SHE committee, ensuring site SOP's, SSOP's and SSRA's are documented, available and personnel are conversant with them, site SHE and boiler files are current and to SHE standard and that the sites and region are compliant with SHE standards.

IMS (Integrated Management Systems) – Manage region's IMS through the appointment and training of an IMS committee, ensuring regular audits are conducted and findings proactively addressed, proper revision control of documents and control of records and region is compliant to AES to ensure that ISO9001, ISO14001 AND OHSAS18001 are maintained.

Interpret electrical schematics for both 24V DC automotive and low voltage AC (max 1000V) systems.

Interpret hydraulic schematics of the hydraulic systems used on Clients Mining Equipment machinesInstall embedded controller software as required on different machine controllersPerform tests and take measurements to validate the performance of the electrical system.

Perform tests and take measurements to validate the general performance of a machine both in the factory and in the fieldEnsure that the relevant electrical workmanship standards are adhered to when working on electrical and hydraulic systemsFault find and trouble shoot electrical systems both in the factory and in the fieldInstruct the electrical workshop personnel and clients how to trouble shoot machine systems (Hydraulic and electrical)Identify root causes of electrical failures on machine systems and write service reports thereon.
