A Leader in the Financial and Banking sector is seeking a Junior Data Engineer.

The main role of the Data Engineer is to utilize their data knowledge and related technologies, following the Company's Data Architecture Roadmap, to enhance technical leadership for the Enterprise, deliver appropriate data products, and back data initiatives. Moreover, Data Engineers improve the company's data infrastructure to enable advanced analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence by providing quality data to stakeholders. They also establish data pipelines, Ingestion, provisioning, streaming, self-service, API, and big data solutions aligning with the Company's strategy to evolve into a data-oriented organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Matric / Grade 12 / National Senior Certificate
  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualifications

  • Field of Study: Bcom, BSc, BEng

Preferred Certifications

  • Cloud (Azure, AWS), DEVOPS, or Data engineering certification. Possession of any Data Science certification will be beneficial, such as Coursera, Udemy, SAS Data Scientist certification, Microsoft Data Scientist.

Minimum Level of Experience

  • Total years of experience: 1 - 2 years
  • Type of experience: Result-oriented, analytical creative thinker with proven innovative problem-solving skills. Self-driven, proactive, and organized individual capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines. A team player who can remain calm and composed when facing challenges.

Key Performance Areas:

  • Responsible for the daily maintenance of data pipelines, providing support to the data squads by performing various data-related tasks such as data profiling, cleaning, configurations, and validation. Also assisting in basic data pipelines, ingestion, and supporting Data Engineers.
  • Data Infrastructure: Supporting and maintaining Data Infrastructure to ensure its security, availability, and reliability.
  • Data Pipeline Build: Maintenance of data pipelines starting with Data Virtualization, Ingestion, Provisioning, and ensuring successful running and support of data pipelines.
  • Data Visualization: Creating virtual databases and assisting in producing data extracts for business requirements.
  • Documentation and Data Analysis: Collaborating with Data Analysts for data profiling, validation, and documentation to support Epics.
  • Company's Data Warehouse Monitoring and Support: Monitoring data pipelines, resolving issues, and ensuring the warehouse meets SLA timelines.
  • Company's Cloud Monitoring and Support Services: Ensuring daily monitoring and management of cloud processes for successful operations.
