An exciting opportunity has become available within the Construction Support industry, for a Junior Construction Support Manager. The position is based in Centurion, Pretoria.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Construction related qualification (Bachelor's Degree or National Diploma)
  • Eligible for a Professional Registration
  • MS Office knowledge and experience
  • Experience on construction software (BuildSmart, etc.)
  • Evaluating and interpreting data objectively
  • Investigating issues by being practical minded and providing insights, making intuitive judgments
  • Being able to explore ideas, being creative when producing ideas
  • Building Relationships by establishing rapport and interacting with people
  • Communicating information by articulating information eloquently and explaining things well

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing, administering and monitoring the delivery of various infrastructure projects from inception to close out as well as supporting contractors to successfully delivery these projects
  • Take Responsibility for Financial Risk on Projects
  • Monitoring the project to ensure it is managed in terms of the contract.
  • Ensuring that the Irrevocable Payment Undertaking is signed by the nominated person of the Employer (when applicable).
  • Checking that the project is run within the allocated budget.
  • Ensuring that drawdowns and materials issued are in accordance to the budget.
  • Ensuring that only duly signed payment certificates are processed and paid.
  • Ensuring that the final account quantities are correct.
  • Coauthorise the release of funds.
  • Monitoring and updating cash flows.
  • Implementation of action plans.
  • Compiling the ACB from authorised quotations.
  • Provide for onsite project risk pertaining to the finance and performance risk of the project
  • Attending site meetings.
  • Advising clients on contractual obligations.
  • Advising contractors on the terms of breaching the contract.
  • Advising on site management.
  • Advising on material management.
  • Taking appropriate action if advise is not heeded which increases risks.
  • Contract Management pertaining to the finance and performance
  • Advise contractor when extensions and variations are applicable.
  • Assist contractor to identify contractual irregularities and advise on possible remedies to rectify.
  • Attending to and escalating concerns/queries (when applicable).
  • Resource Management pertaining to the finance and performance
  • Assisting with planning, scheduling and setting up the project.
  • Assisting with the procurement of material. Ordering supplies, plant and tool hire.
  • Ensuring that the subcontractors are appointed correctly.
  • Liaise on Projects
  • Communicating regarding project progress to the Project Leader.
  • Communicating with Suppliers, consultants and principle agents.
  • Assisting in drafting letters of extension request.
  • Communicating the content of site visit reports to contractors.
  • Report on Project Status
  • Escalating queries and problems
  • Submitting written monthly reports to funders and Company
  • Discuss and formulate action plans pertaining to execution of projects.
