Job Purpose

Junior Paralegal

General Requirements:

  • Must have a Matric and a paralegal diploma (or studying towards the paralegal diploma)
  • Qualifications in Deceased Estate Administration will be an advantage;
  • Experience in the fiduciary environment will also be an advantage;
  • Knowledge and technical know-how relating to deceased estates administration;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office essential;
  • Fiduciary environment regulatory knowledge;
  • Client-centricity must be at the heart of your job purpose;
  • Skilled communicator;
  • Has an understanding of risk and compliance as it pertains to the fiduciary environment;
  • Conversant with Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism principles;
  • Ability to think laterally, logically, and practically;

  • Show empathy and support spouse and/or beneficiaries;

Duties include, amongst others, the following:

  • Drafting of Wills;
  • Assisting with reporting of deceased estates and Trusts to the Masters Office as well as other stakeholders;
  • Placement of advertisements;
  • Obtaining the written confirmation of all assets and liabilities in the estate/trust;
  • Make payments/distributions to creditors, heirs, and beneficiaries
  • Assisting with effective and regular communication with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Ensuring that various stakeholders are advised of all progress towards all milestones in trusts/estates/wills;
  • Following up and collecting proceeds payable to the estate;
  • Transferring assets to beneficiaries;
  • Arranging suitable insurance of assets;
  • Obtaining relevant tax certificates and providing the same to the company's tax service providers;
  • Ensure the finalization of the income tax assessment and obtaining closure from SARS;
  • Identify new business for the company;
  • Preparing the file for finalization;
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and policies;
  • Support implementation of new processes, policies, and systems.

Salary: R11, R12,000.00 per month
