Our client is looking for a Safety Officer to join their team.

The Safety Officer is responsible to participate and facilitate implementation of SHEQ Plans, Policies, and Procedures.

Inclusive of this responsibility is to measure compliance of the afore mentioned and monitor availability and validity / effectiveness of SHEQ Practices and Standards within the specific Site.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for SHEQ management related to the specific site/Site.
  • Ensure governance adherence to SHEQ relevant to the Site and being aligned with the company's SHEQ and governance compliance.
  • The insurance that all work processes and procedures are aligned with the company's and client SHEQ requirements.
  • The management and supervision of all risk factors to ensure SHEQ compliance and the continuous sustainability thereof. The mitigation of the Site SHEQ risks.
  • Drafting and monitoring of SHEQ objectives and targets.
  • Measuring actions for execution and adherence of related standards.
  • Timeous reporting of SHEQ risks and the impact and consequence thereof. Presenting recommended solutions and actions to mitigate these risks
  • Reporting of all SHEQ related matters, incidents, accidents, statistics and inspections on a monthly basis (may be sooner if required) to the SHEQ Manager.
  • Measuring adherence of SHEQ policies, procedures, Standard Operational Procedures. Insurance of specific related site requirements are adhered to.


 To measure
  • Adherence and comply to, relevant local and international SHEQ regulations and standards.
  • Attending all company and client meetings as per schedule (daily / weekly / monthly).
  • Attending Safety Campaigns.
  • Initiating Safety drives on respective responsible sites to create and sustain a safety culture.
  • Attending VFL with Client as per schedule and conduct weekly internal VFL visits on the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure monthly feedback sessions are held following the Client's monthly safety meetings and that record thereof is kept.
  • Continuous reporting on all SHEQ matters to Site Managers and the SHEQ Manager.
  • Ensure 6 monthly Safety File audits from the Client is conducted as per Client requirements and specifications.
  • Ensure bimonthly internal Safety File audits are conducted to ensure compliance with IMA requirements.
  • Ensuring that all SHEQ documents, processes and systems are of good acceptable quality and meeting the respective objectives.
  • Ensure the following weekly, monthly and Bimonthly SHEQ submissions are met and loaded on to SharePoint as per SHEQ Manager Requirements (these may expand in time)

Qualification:

  • SAMTRAC and/or equivalent with more than 5 years' experience in a similar operation.
  • 10 years related work experience
  • Sound knowledge of the external site environments.
  • Fully integrated SHEQ management systems knowledge and experience.
  • Managing groups of people.
  • Sound knowledge of company policies and procedures, including relevant reporting and administration procedures.
  • Operational requirements and strategic objectives setting experience.
