JOB DESCRIPTION
The domestic worker plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness, orderliness, and overall household management.

She will be responsible for carrying out a range of domestic tasks to ensure the smooth running of the household.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning and Maintenance:

  • Perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming.
  • Clean and sanitise bathrooms, kitchens, bedrooms, and other living spaces.
  • Organise and maintain household items, such as furniture, appliances, and decorations.
  • Wash and iron clothes, linens, and other fabrics as needed.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and other surfaces.

Household Chores:

  • Prepare and assist with meals as per the family's requirements.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchenware.
  • Assist with grocery shopping and food preparation.
  • Make beds, change linens, and tidy up bedrooms.
  • Manage laundry, including washing, drying, and folding clothes.

Childcare:

  • Supervise and care for children, (boys aged 10 and 5) ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
  • Prepare meals and snacks for children and assist with feeding if necessary.
  • Engage in educational activities, and provide emotional support.
  • Assist with bathing, dressing, and grooming of children.

Other Household Support:

  • Assist with pet care, including feeding.
  • Perform light gardening duties, such as watering plants or maintaining outdoor areas.
  • Assist with household events, parties, or gatherings by setting up and cleaning afterward.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Live in required
  • Minimum 6 years or more as a domestic worker or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of household cleaning practices and techniques.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment and appliances effectively.
  • Basic cooking and food preparation skills.
  • Good organisational and time management abilities.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to work independently.

Communication and Language:

  • Proficient in spoken and written English or Afrikaans. (Multilingual abilities would be advantageous to teach the children a third language)
  • Ability to communicate effectively with household members and follow instructions.

Physical Stamina:

  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Good health and stamina to handle the demands of the job.

Trustworthiness and Confidentiality:

  • Discretion and respect for the privacy of the household and its members.
  • A trustworthy and reliable nature.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Pretoria, Gauteng: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
