Senior AWS Cloud Architect

(Remote in SA - 3 to 6 month contract)

For a National Telecommunications Company
Lead our cloud initiatives and infrastructure on the AWS platform.
This role involves designing scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions that support the strategic goals of our organization.

The Senior AWS Cloud Architect will play a critical role in our digital transformation journey, ensuring our cloud infrastructure is robust, secure, and agile.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement innovative cloud solutions on AWS, optimizing performance, cost, and scalability.
  • Lead cloud architecture decisions, balancing current and future needs in terms of scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to create a seamless and integrated environment that supports DevOps practices.
  • Conduct architectural reviews and audits of existing solutions, proposing improvements and leading the migration efforts.
  • Ensure cloud environments comply with industry standards and company policies for security and data protection.
  • Stay uptodate with the latest AWS services and technologies, integrating new tools and services to enhance our cloud capabilities.
  • Provide expertise and mentorship to team members on AWS best practices, tools, and methodologies.
  • Lead disaster recovery planning and implementation, ensuring mínimal downtime and data loss in any scenario.
  • Manage cost optimization strategies, ensuring efficient use of cloud resources.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in cloud architecture, specifically with AWS services.
  • Strong understanding of AWS core services (EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, Lambda, etc.), architecture patterns, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in automation and orchestration tools (e.g., AWS CloudFormation, Terraform).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with networking principles and security best practices, especially within an AWS context.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Professional certification is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills, along with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.

Pay:
R100 000,00 - R140 000,00 per month
