Duties:

  • All incident and other reports are received on handover from the Duty Manager. Routine duties are performed, and any specific actions carried over from the previous shift are carried out. A night report detailing complaints, emergencies, maintenance, or security needs, as well as a summary of the action taken, is handed over to Duty Management the following morning.
  • Regular checks are made on Hotel floors and Hotel premises through a physical walkaround and Security is liaised with when necessary.
  • Late arrivals are checked in correctly, allocated a room and their luggage sent to their room without delay. Late arrival guests are advised of Hotel facilities available at night.
  • The night auditor ensures that strict security measures are in operation and no unauthorized person has access to any part of the Hotel.
  • The night auditor ensures that no unruly or rowdy behavior persists, and appropriate measures are taken in the event of unreasonableness by any guest or staff member.
  • All restaurants and banqueting areas are properly secured after close of business and that keys are secured. The kitchen areas not in use have been closed and that no equipment is left on, particularly deep fryers.
  • All public areas, including cloakrooms, are checked to ensure that such areas have been cleaned and serviced correctly by night cleaning staff.
  • Wakeup call requests are recorded and executed at the desired time.
  • The switchboard function is taken over at night.
  • All daily room and outstanding charges are posted, all revenue totals of cash and credits are balanced against revenue report.
  • Floats and takings are taken over from day shift Receptionist/ Cashier, ensuring that these are securely locked away.
  • Night audit staff are supervised in the consolidation of the day's revenue and in the preparation of Hotels reports.
  • Guest needs and requirements are anticipated and acted upon as soon as possible and guest enquiries and requests are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Requests outside area of authority are referred immediately to an appropriate person and requests are followed through to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Dissatisfied guests are acknowledged immediately and attended to without delay. The guest is assured that the complaint will receive immediate attention and such complaints are resolved within the individual's ability or are referred to the appropriate person. Complaints are followed up where appropriate to ensure satisfactory action is taken.

Min requirements:

  • Minimum of Grade 1
  • Hospitality diploma or certificate is advantageous
  • The employee must have financial acumen.
  • Competency in operating Opera and Micros is required
  • This employee will be employed to work Night Shift on a fullterm basis.
  • Driver license is advantageous
