Summary
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Design, implement, and maintain PostgreSQL database systems, including schema design, table creation, and data migration.
- Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks, and implementing tuning strategies.
- Develop and implement backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Implement and maintain database security measures, including user access controls, data encryption, and audits.
- Perform database capacity planning and recommend infrastructure enhancements to support future growth.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures, configuration guides, and troubleshooting resources.
- Participate in oncall rotation for 24/7 support and respond to databaserelated incidents in a timely manner.
- Stay uptodate with the latest PostgreSQL features, releases, and security patches, evaluating their potential impact on our database environment.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Relevant work experience will be considered in lieu of a diploma or degree.
- At least 5 years' experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL database concepts, administration, and performance tuning.
- Proficient in SQL and experience with database query optimization techniques.
- Experience with database installation, configuration, and maintenance on Linux/UNIX platforms.
- Familiarity with database security best practices and data protection techniques.
- Knowledge of backup and recovery strategies, including pointintime recovery and replication.
- Experience with monitoring and performance analysis tools for PostgreSQL databases.
- Strong problemsolving and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyse complex database issues and provide effective solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
