The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for creating more intricate financial reports, processing journal entries, handling month-end accounting, and preparing balance sheet reconciliations. The main aim of this role is to report costs, productivity, margins, and expenses while providing financial advice. Additionally, this position involves managing and creating budgets.

Revenue Responsibilities

  • Assisting with monthly billing checks to ensure revenue accuracy and completeness
  • Approving credit notes
  • Reviewing Customer Quotes from the Sales team before approval by the CFO and CEO
  • Validating Customer Contract details before submission to the CFO for signing
  • Conducting month-end activities, including preparing and processing journal entries
  • Financial reporting related to Revenue
  • Handling Revenue budgets and forecasts
  • Engaging with stakeholders such as Customers, Debtors, and the Billing team
  • Supporting accounts receivable functions proactively
  • Ensuring proper credit vetting processes for new accounts

General Responsibilities

  • Preparing month-end reconciliations and supporting documentation for the trial balance
  • Participation in financial projects
  • Management of accounts
  • Management of cash flow
  • Conducting VAT reconciliations and checks
  • Reconciling accounts, resolving discrepancies, and collaborating across various finance and non-finance departments
  • Compiling annual audit information for external auditors
  • Managing governance and controls
  • Handling BBBEE reporting

Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:

  • Effective communication skills (verbal and written) - Proficient in Afrikaans
  • Strong interpersonal skills with self-management abilities
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Deadline-oriented with a team-focused approach

Education and Experience:

  • Completed Bcom Accounting / Finance degree
  • 5–8 years of post-articles experience
  • Advanced proficiency in ERPs like SAP, Pastel Evolution
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar position
  • Experience within Finance in an information technology organization
